Review: SLEEK Eye & Cheek palette – All Day Soiree 030

One of the products in my May Glossybox was the Sleek Eye & Cheek in All Day Soiree 030 so I thought I would do a little review!

This palette contains 4 shadows from the Del Mar Vol.II i-Divine palette and 2 blushes and it comes with a mini blusher and a mini eyeshadow applicator.

First off, I like the packaging; I generally like the matte black packaging Sleek products have. This one is small and light, so it would be good to travel with. It has a magnetic opening so its easy to open.

When I swatch the 4 eyeshadows on my arm they have good pigmentation, although they are a little powdery. There is a white shimmery shadow, a matte cool toned light brown shadow, a shimmery orange shadow and the last shadow is orange with some subtle glitter.

The blushes are not as pigmented; the shimmery one which to me looks more like a highlight than a blush, doesn’t swatch well at all I mostly get glitter and no colour pay off, the pink one is a lot more pigmented but very powdery.

I did 2 looks with the palette. I used all 4 eyeshadows. The pink blush is very bubblegum pink for my skin tone so I tried to use it as a shadow but the pigmentation just wasn’t there. I tried to use the blush/highlight as a highlight but it was very subtle and I prefer my highlight to be stronger so I ended up using some Colourpop highlights instead. However if you prefer a subtle highlight then this might be great for you! I just like my highlight to be blinding!

For the first look I used the light brown shadow on my crease, very lightly, as a transition colour. Then I used the orange shadow on the outer 2/3 of my lid and the shimmery orange on the inner half of my lid, overlapping the 2 shadows in the middle. I was a little disappointed as the shadows were not as pigmented on the lid as I expected; I had to use some MAC Fix+ to get the orange to pop. It was also very powdery; in fact most of the shadows had quite a bit of fall out so I would advise doing your eye makeup before you apply your foundation.

For the second look I used the light brown shadow all over my lid and then I used the champaign shimmery shadow on my inner lid. Again I had to use some Fix+ on the shimmer shadow.

The other thing I noticed was that the shadows creased and moved quite a bit even though I primed my lids ( and I always use the same primer so I know it works!).

I prefer the first look, it turned out a lot better. Although I have to say I got a little frustrated with the second one – I just wanted more pigmentation!

The shadows were easy to blend; although you have to be careful when you blend the shimmery shadows as its really easy to blend away the shimmer. Like I said there was a lot of fall out so I had to clean up with a makeup wipe before doing my foundation.

Overall I found this palette a little disappointing. You get 4 eyeshadows and 2 cheek products for £10. The shadows I can work with, use a little Fix+, or a white base underneath to make the colours more vibrant, but the cheek colours just didn’t work for me. For the quality and amount of products you get this palette is not worth it for me. I would rather buy one of the Sleek eyeshadow palettes where you pay £8.99 for 12 shadows! Even if a couple of the shadows in the palette are not that good you still get quite a few shadows for less than £9.

The only thing I don’t like about their eyeshadow palettes is the click-closure which makes it hard to open the palette. Whereas this palette has a magnetic closure which I love! I wish Sleek would put the magnetic closure on all their palettes (unless they already have and mine are older lol!)

Have you tried this palette? Did you like it?
